Event Description

On April 12th and 13th, The French Heritage Society in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy will be presenting a showcase celebrating artisans working in the French style at the Payne Whitney Mansion. The exhibition, entitled “Master Artisans and French Savoir-Faire, ” will highlight many exceptional and well-known artisans, representing some of the finest in painting, gilding, upholstery, marquetry, embroidery and other artisanal trades.

Several of the artisans will be present during the two-day event to demonstrate and discuss their respective crafts. The historic traditions still used today by these local artisans are a testament to the exemplary craftsmanship which built the French legacy in exquisite architecture, décor, and decorative arts.
