Joy Sorman
It is less than a decade since Joy Sorman stopped teaching philosophy and turned to writing. In that short span, she has secured an important place not only as a writer of fiction but also as one of the leading spokespersons for an assertive, demanding brand of feminism. Her first book, Boys, Boys, Boys, a manifesto for a “virile feminism” was awarded the prestigious Prix Flore (2005) and immediately earned her a place as a major voice among the younger generation. Among her other books are L’Inhabitable and Paris Gare du Nord (both 2011); Comme une bête (2012), as well as two works written in collaboration, 14 Femmes, pour un féminisme pragmatique (2007) and Parce que ça nous plait : L’Invention de la jeunesse (2010). She has also won the Prix Georges Brassens as well as the “Prix Liste Goncourt : le choix polonais” 2012. Joy Sorman has worked on many cultural programs for French television and radio.
