A Transatlantic Art Contest: Celebrating The Statue of Liberty’s 125th Birthday.

Déroulement et règlement


Pour célébrer le 125è anniversaire de la Statue de la Liberté (le 28 octobre 2011), les Services Culturels de l’Ambassade de France à New York, en
partenariat avec le Service des Parcs Nationaux des Etats-Unis, le Statue of
Liberty National Monument, les Services des Parcs et Aires de loisirs de la
Ville de New York (City of New York Parks and Recreations), et the American
Association of Teachers of French, organisent un concours transatlantique
franco-américain s’adressant aux élèves des classes de maternelle à la Terminale.
Le thème de cette année porte sur : La Statue de la Liberté et l’Environnement
RÉCOMPENSES

  •  3 Grand Prix (oeuvres individuelles uniquement): 3 doubles allers-retours Paris – New York, offerts par Air France.
  • 4 récompenses individuelles ($500 par gagnant)
  • 4 récompenses pour des oeuvres de groupes ($500 par groupe)
  • 100 pochettes cadeau de luxe

Certaines oeuvres seront sélectionnées pour être exposées sur Liberty Island.

LE CONCOURS EST OUVERT À : Tous les élèves des écoles primaires et secondaires
des Etats-Unis et de France. Les élèves peuvent proposer une seule oeuvre à
titre individuel. Ils peuvent également présenter une seule oeuvre de groupe.
Cette année, le National French Week Contest se veut PLUS
VERT QUE JAMAIS

La priorité doit être donnée à l’utilisation de matériaux RECYCLÉS et/ou
ÉCOLOGIQUES
Les oeuvres peuvent prendre la forme de créations en extérieur, telles que des
peintures murales, des mosaïques, des sculptures, etc . Bien sûr, assurez-vous
d’avoir l’autorisation des propriétaires de surfaces ou espaces privées, des
services de gestion des aires de jeux ou des parcs avant d’installer vos
projets. Les organisateurs du concours ne seront pas tenus pour responsables de
tout dommage à des espaces privés ou publics.
TOUTES les oeuvres doivent être déposées ÉLECTRONIQUEMENT, en Français ou en
Anglais, sur le site internet du concours ,

de vidéos, photos ou textes. Lors du dépôt, veuillez joindre une description
écrite ou orale de votre oeuvre, et inclure votre pseudo et votre classe dans
son titre. Exemple : « L’arbre de la Liberté – par TITI, classe de 4è. »
4 catégories de participants :
Pre-K to 3rd Grade / maternelle à CE2 4th -6th Grade / CM1 – 6ème 7th-9th Grade
/ 5ème – 3ème 10th-12th Grade / Seconde - Terminale
Supports d’expression possibles
1. Créez une sculpture ou une mosaïque, ou bien peignez un mur ou décorez une
barrière … VOUS NE POUVEZ UTILISER QUE DES MATÉRIAUX RECYCLÉS ET/OU ÉCOLOGIQUES
2. Créez une chanson ou une vidéo à propos de la Statue -- en français ou en
anglais, d’une durée maximum de 5 minutes
3. Proposez une image / une photo, ou créez une affiche qui capture et transmet
l’essence de la Statue de la Liberté ET de nos préoccupations
environnementales. Les images peuvent être des photographies de dessins ou
peintures, ou bien réalisées directement avec des logiciels comme Paint,
Photoshop, Publisher, etc.
4. Rédigez un texte de 800 mots maximum, en anglais ou en français, répondant à
la question : ―Quelle énergie devrait être utilisée d’ici 25 ans pour éclairer
la torche de la Statue?‖
5. Créez une tenue vestimentaire inspirée par la devise écologique de la
statue. VOUS NE POUVEZ UTILISER QUE DES MATÉRIAUX RECYCLÉS ET/OU ÉCOLOGIQUES.
 
Note: Veuillez déposer des photographies de votre création vue sous plusieurs
angles. Ajoutez éventuellement quelques gros plans sur des détails importants
mais peu visibles dans une vue d’ensemble
En plus de la série de photos, vous devez impérativement joindre une liste
détaillée des matériaux utilisés lors de la création (tissus, accessoires, colle,
machine à coudre, épingles à nourrice .. .) - 300 mots maximum
6. Inventez une chorégraphie qui exprime le thème de notre concours (la Statue
et l’Environnement). Cette danse d’une durée maximum de 5 minutes doit être
filmée, et vous déposerez la vidéo sur le site.

In celebration of the Statue of Liberty’s 125th birthday (October 28th, 2011), the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, in collaboration with the U.S. National
Park Service, Statue of Liberty National Monument, the City of New York Parks
and Recreations, and the American Association of Teachers of French are hosting
a Franco-American Transatlantic contest for students in grades pre-K to 12.
This year’s topics will be: The Statue of Liberty and the Environment
PRIZES

  •  3 Grand- Prize Winners (for individual entries only): 3 pairs of round-trip tickets, courtesy of Air France
  • 4 individual awards ($500 per each individual)
  • 4 group awards ($500 per each group)
  • 100 luxury gift-bags

All primary and secondary school students in the United States and in France
are eligible to participate. Students are allowed to submit one individual
entry only. Group projects are accepted as separate entries and separate from
individual projects.
This year, the National French Week Contest is going GREENER
THAN EVER
.
Priority should be given to the use of RECYCLED or/and ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY
materials.
Art Works can be outdoor projects such as wall paintings, mosaics, sculptures,
etc (Please check with the local property owners, playground and park
supervisors, etc before installing your work). The contest organizers cannot be
held responsible for property damages.
ALL entries must be submitted ELECTRONICALLY (entries may be submitted in
French or English). Post your videos, photos or texts on the contest’s website:
http://statueofliberty.ning.com/
Please add a written or oral description of your work. And include your login
name and your grade in the title of your work.
Students are divided into four categories according to their grade:
Pre-K to 3rd Grade 4th -6th Grade 7th-9th Grade 10th-12th Grade
Possible Mediums of Expression:
1. Build a sculpture or a mosaic or paint a wall or decorate a fence YOU MAY
ONLY USE RECYCLED OR GREEN MATERIALS:
2. Create a song or video about the Statue—may be performed in French or
English (entries may not exceed 5 minutes in length).
3. Submit a picture/photograph or design a poster that captures the essence of
the Statue and her Greener than Ever motto (images may be created in programs
such as Paint, PhotoShop, Publisher, etc.).
4. Write an essay in which you answer the question: What energy should be used
to light the Statue’s torch 25 years from now? (800 words maximum—may be
written in French or English).
5. Design an outfit inspired by the Statue’s Green than Ever motto. YOU MAY
ONLY USE RECYCLED OR GREEN MATERIALS..
Note: Please select a model for your outfit and submit photographs of the
outfit from various angles for judging. You may want to take a few close-up
shots of certain detailed elements of the outfit which might be difficult to
see in wider framed photographs.
In addition to the photographs of your outfit, you must submit a detailed list
of the materials that you used to create your outfit and the manner in which
you assembled it (i.e. glue, sewing machine, safety pins)—300 words maximum.
6. Choreograph a dance that expresses the Statue’s Greener than Ever motto (1-
5 minutes). The dance must be filmed and submitted electronically.
