Science, Language & Arts French and Mandarin immersion school is an independent PK-5th elementary school located in the heart of the BAM Cultural District in downtown Brooklyn. A project-based interdisciplinary approach supports a curriculum rich in the sciences, math, and the arts. 1) Head Teacher, French Immersion Pre-Kindergarten (FT)

This position leads the French immersion pre-Kindergarten classroom. The successful candidate is a native speaker of French, a trained early childhood teacher, and has at least two years of classroom experience. 

The following qualifications are required:

-Native fluency in French

-Master’s degree in education, child development, or other related field (or equivalent experience)

-At least two years teaching experience with children between the ages of 3 and 5

-Highly dynamic, hands-on style

-NOTE: NYS certification NOT REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

-Experience teaching with progressive methods (Bank Street, constructivist, Montessori, child-led / project-based, Waldorf/Steiner, Freinet, etc.) 

-Experience teaching mixed-age and mixed-ability classrooms

-Background in science or art 

2) Co-Teacher, French Immersion Pre-Kindergarten (FT)

This position collaborates with the head teacher in our French immersion pre- Kindergarten. The successful candidate is a native speaker of French and a trained elementary school teacher.  

The following qualifications are required:

-Native fluency in French

-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

-Highly dynamic, hands-on style

-NOTE: NYS certification NOT REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

-Master’s degree in education, child development, or other related field (or equivalent experience)

-Experience teaching with progressive methods (Bank Street, constructivist, Montessori, child-led / project-based, Waldorf/Steiner, Freinet, etc.) 

-Experience with children between ages 3 and 5

-Experience teaching mixed-age and mixed-ability classrooms

-Background in science or art

3) Teacher, French Immersion, 3rd & 4th grades (FT)

This position collaborates with the corresponding anglophone grade-level teacher. The successful candidate is a native speaker of French, and a trained teacher with at least 2 years of experience. The teacher in this position will teach language arts and literature in French, collaborate with anglophone math teacher to practice math skills in French, and help build, lead, and support science and social science projects.

The following qualifications are required:

-Native fluency in French

-Master’s degree in education, child development, or other related field (or equivalent experience)

-At least two years teaching experience with elementary school-aged children

-Highly dynamic, hands-on style

-Experience integrating science and literacy

-NOTE: NYS certification NOT REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

-Experience teaching with progressive methods (Bank Street, constructivist, Montessori, child-led / project-based, Waldorf/Steiner, Freinet, etc.) 

-Experience teaching mixed-age and mixed-ability classrooms
