Learn about French history and culture in Greater New York. New Rochelle, a French city, founded by Huguenot refugees from La Rochelle, is 35 minutes from Grand Central.

French was the official language here in New Rochelle until the 1830's.

And Tom Paine was a member of the Assembly; Première République française, and helped draw the Constitution.
Paine was condemned to death and jailed for his opposition to regicide. He wrote "The Age of Reason" while in the Paris jail; and narrowly, by a miracle, escaped with his life.

hope hazy @ The Living Room: 154 Ludlow St, NY, NY
http://www.livingroomny.com/
November 20, 2011 @ 10pm - get there early!

hope hazy is performing songs from her recently released album, "never the same [ jamais la même ]" as well as a few new ones! This event is free, as long as you enjoy the music while drinking at least one purchased beverage of your choice! bring all your friends!!!

hope hazy partners English rock with the French flare of Yann Tiersen's (french Composer for the film, Amelie) ornate melodies, elevated by Queen-inspired vocal arrangements and song-writing reminiscent of a score that paints the fantastical worlds of a Tim Burton film.

Check out her facebook to stream her entire album...search "hope hazy", "like" her, and then click on band page. Thanks guys!

Floanne Solo Cabaret - No Strings Attached

No Strings Attached is an evening of cheerful cabaret songs, in French… and in English. Born and raised in a dairy farm in South-East France. Floanne moved to New York City in 2000 and now works as an actress and voice in New York. HOW? Come hear for yourself...
This performance brings her back to her roots, and with some of the most beautiful pieces of French music, she unveils herself in this jazzy city that is now her home.

Bonne lecture!
