PS 110 Launches French Dual Language Program

Posted by Dana Raciunas on July 6, 2011 at 4:05pm

Starting in September, 2011 PS 110 will launch its first kindergarten class following a dual language model. The majority of the day will be taught in French with an emphasis in building biliterate students in French and English.Madame Laura Sutton, the new kindergarten teacher, is embarking on this exciting journey together with PS 110. She brings with her 9 years of teaching experience. She has traveled abroad to Canada and Europe with students and is a member of the American Association of Teachers of French. This dynamic teacher is a perfect fit for PS 110, a school dedicated to "Growing Hearts and Minds".This past June the school was awarded the NYSASCD "Educating the Whole Child for the 21st Century Award".  PS 110 is located at 124 Monitor Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Dear Parents,

We wanted to let you know that we have a very strong candidate for the teaching position at PS 110 for the French English Dual Language program for Fall 2011!  It seems that we do not have enough students registered at the moment, the deadline is April 15th, if we don't secure the 18 students there will be no class next year.  If you are planning on attending please go register as soon as possible!
Thank you,
Léa

Hi Léa!  My son won't be starting kindergarten until Fall 2013.  I can't afford to take time off this Monday to come to the school but I would love to come to any other event or meet with the principal to express my interest in the dual language program! Let me know what I can do support the program.

Well, I will say that if my daughter turned 4 yrs 9 mos in Sept 2011, I'd be signing up now. Also, I am moving into the city so she can attend a school with a dual language Fr/Eng program and Williamsburg is first on my list.

Hello again, Lea,

Since I can't make the 7th due to jury duty and my daughter will only be 3 in Sept 2011, would it be possible to come another day? We are visiting Mini Maternelle in Brooklyn on the 16th at 9:20am. Would it be possible to visit the school that day?? My daughter is still too young for the Pre-K at PS 84 also, but I am very serious about the dual language program and we are moving into the city this summer specifically for this reason. Thanks and hopefully 20 families will sign up!
