Although it would be hard not to enjoy a Films on the Green screening, here are some helpful tips to make your viewing experience the best possible.

1) PACK A PICNIC

What could be better while watching a French movie than a baguette in hand and some brie? If that doesn’t appeal, pack whatever you’d prefer and have something to munch on during the film.

2) DON’T LEAVE WITH A SORE BUTT

You don’t have to spend lots of money on fancy outdoor seating; a blanket on the ground will do just fine. However, affordable outdoor seating is easy to find. Know that you will be sitting for two hours or so, so you may want to accommodate accordingly.

3) DISCOVER YOUR PARKS

One of the best aspects of Films on the Green is that it’s outdoors. Take this opportunity to explore some of New York City’s finest parks. But remember: you may want to bring bug spray while you get to know your parks better, you don’t want to leave the festival covered in bug bites—not chic!

4) CHECK THE WEATHER

Unfortunately, it turns out that the weather can be quite unpredictable. Make sure to check the weather update on ourFacebook or Twitter accounts before attending. It is possible that screenings will be rescheduled due to rain or thunderstorms.

5) COME EARLY

Not only will you get prime seats for the film, but DJs will be playing francophone-inspired tunes before each screening. Dance away the stress of the week before settling down to watch the film!

6) GO WITH FRIENDS

Films on the Green is a FREE outdoor film festival. Bring as many of your friends as you want! There’s no better way to bond over your mutual love of French cinema and free things.

7) CAPTURE THE MOMENT

Assuming you have a smartphone, take pictures and post them to Instagram with the #filmsonthegreen. Your friends will marvel at your sophistication for attending a French film festival.

8) GRAB A PROGRAM

This year’s festival features the best of the best of talented French actors. Make sure to get a brochure while you’re at the screening so you don’t miss any!

9) SPEAK FRENCH

You’re at a French film festival, why not take it to the next level? There will be plenty of Francophiles, practice your French while you wait for the film to start. Or just practice your fake French accent. We won’t tell anyone!

10) HAVE FUN!

While we have provided some tips for attending the festival, Films on the Green should be a stress-free environment. Most importantly, remember to relax and enjoy the film!
