LIVE MUSIC

This unique event will be the occasion for students of the French Heritage Language Program to present the musical Amidou & Toya, an original creation composed by French teacher and professional musician Yacine Boulares. It tells the story of new Francophone immigrants from West Africa and Haiti who have to deal with the challenges of youth, love, and integration.

Students from the International High School at Prospect Heights, who were recently interviewed by online magazine French Morning, have been working for the past 8 months on the project and are ready to impress their audience!

This event will also feature exclusive performances by 2 very special guests: world famous Haitian singer Emeline Michel and jazz master Jacques Schwarz-Bart, who will be accompanied by the great musicians of AJOYO.

Born in Gonaives, Haiti, Emeline Michel has been called "The Joni Mitchell of Haiti." Her songs merge native Haitian Kompa music and rara with jazz, pop, bossa nova, and samba. An accomplished dancer and versatile vocalist, Emeline Michel has performed all over the world.
