Dear Parents,

EFNY (Education Française à New York) is looking for more volunteers! We currently have a small group of people running this organization and would like to share these responsibilities with others so that we can do even more to support our children’s education.

EFNY is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide affordable educational opportunities for New York City's school children to acquire, maintain, or deepen their knowledge of the French language and Francophone cultures. We fulfill this mission through supporting the creation of French dual language classes in New York City public schools and organizing French language after school classes. Our organization is run almost wholly by a group of parent volunteers. You can learn more about our activities at our website, http://www.efny.net/.

Do you have 2-3 hours per week to spare to help EFNY, or sporadic availability to undertake a project such as organizing a children’s event? We are a dynamic group of people who speak both English and French. You don’t need to be fluent in French to help, but a love of the French language and French-speaking culture does help! We list our biggest areas of need below, but please let us know if you have other skills you would like to contribute. We also have paid teaching positions open that you can find on our website.

Finance - Accountant (CPA)
We are looking for an experienced accountant or CPA to work with the Treasurer to help us improve and run our very simple financial processes and accounting systems (Quickbooks), reporting, internal control systems and procedures. This person would be responsible for payroll and all related tax filings and payments.

Finance – Treasurer
Primary responsibility for the management and reporting of EFNY’s finances, including financial transaction oversight, budgeting, and reporting either as Treasurer or as Assistant Treasurer.

Fundraising and Partnerships
Come help us develop a fundraising and partnership strategy, build relationships, explore new opportunities, and direct our outreach efforts to the Francophone community.

Management strategist
We would like to find an experienced consultant who can help us apply strategic management concepts to running our non-profit.

PR, media, or advertising specialist
An opportunity for a PR and marketing strategist to start these efforts from the ground up. We are looking for someone to help us promote our small non-profit in the NYC area. Responsibilities might include:

○ developing a strategy for PR, communications, and online presence

○ building tactical communications tools

○ fostering relationships with French-American media outlets.

After School Site Coordinators
After school site coordinators are volunteers who lead and run EFNY’s after school programs at the individual site level, which means at the school level. They usually have children in the school, and they represent EFNY within the school. Coordinators are in charge of all matters required to ensure that the program runs smoothly. There are anywhere from 2 to 4 coordinators at each school. Coordinators handle the following responsibilities: budgeting and financials, site logistics, family-school liaison, program marketing, teacher coordination, events, and local library. If you are an after school parent, contact your local coordinator to see if he/she is looking for help.

Volunteer staff coordination
Help run the organization operations. Lend a hand by coordinating the work of our volunteers, from site coordinators to administrative staff. The only experience required is organizational skills, attention to detail, familiarity with Google Docs, comfort with online applications, and a passion for working with people.

Web content manager
Looking for someone with skills in web content management, writing and editing for the web, graphic design and site management. Help develop a voice for our online presence. In addition to writing, editing, and proofreading site content, this person will also work closely with the webmaster to maintain site standards and with the PR/Marketing strategist to craft site promotions, email newsletters, and online outreach campaigns.

Webmaster
Help us keep our website (soon to be rewritten in WordPress) up and running, address issues with our hosting company or email service provider, and track website statistics and analytics.

Chers Parents, Bienvenus à EFNY! Education Française à New York / French Education in New York (EFNY) est une association à but non-lucratif, gérée par des bénévoles. Notre vocation est d’offrir aux enfants scolarisés dans des écoles de la ville de New York la possibilité d’acquérir, maintenir ou approfondir leur connaissance de la langue française et des cultures francophones.

Nous proposons des programmes extracurriculaires d’enseignement de la langue française – français langue étrangère et, en classes distinctes, français pour les enfants francophones scolarisés dans le système américain. Les classes ont lieu dans diverses écoles de quartiers, à Manhattan et Brooklyn. Les inscriptions pour le second semestre de l’année 2012-13 sont ouvertes!

Welcome to EFNY! Education Française à New York / French Education in New York (EFNY) is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the French language in New York City public schools.

We offer quality after-school French language programs, both French as a second language classes and classes designed specifically for students who already speak French at home. All classes are hosted by public schools in Manhattan and Brooklyn but are open to all students. Registration for the 2013 Spring Semester is now open!
