In collaboration with the Columbia Maison Française, Films on the Green @ Columbia strengthens the commitment of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy to partner with universities and to increase student access to French art and culture.

 

3438635977?profile=originalThe Cultural Services provides a platform to promote strong French-American ties that facilitate cultural exchange between the two countries with fields of action in the arts, literature, cinema, French language programs and higher education. The Columbia Maison Française, founded in 1913, provides a gathering place and public forum for students, scholars, business leaders, policy-makers and anyone seeking a better understanding of France, Europe, and the French-speaking world. With the launch of this Back-to-School event at Columbia, the festival brings French cinema directly to the campus and offers both students and the public a unique and accessible educational and cultural opportunity.

Marion (Delpy), a French photographer, lives in New York with Jack (Goldberg), an interior designer. After a brief stay in Venice, they decide to go to Paris to visit Marion's family. The romantic getaway is cut short: between Marion’s bizarre parents, her numerous ex-boyfriends and Jack’s obsession for photography, their relationship becomes tense!

Films on the Green Festival

Films on the Green, co-organized by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, is an annual French film festival offering free outdoor screenings in New York City parks.

Summer vacation, the theme of this fourth edition, has been visited through an array of styles and genres over the course of eight screenings.  Two Days in Paris will conclude the festival with a summer tale set during the “Fête de la Musique” in Paris (the French equivalent of Make Music New York).
