French films at the Socially Relevant Film Festival New York 6th Edition

Voici notre nouvelle sélection de films français pour notre 6ème édition qui se déroulera du 15 au 21 mars 2019 au Cinema Village, downtown Manhattan.


- un long métrage français: A THOUSAND PIECES by Véronique MÉRIADEC


(France | 2018 | 82 min | North American Premiere) Synopsis: Twenty-five years after the assassination of her son Olivier in 1977, Nicole Parmentier (Clémentine Célarié) decides to meet with Eric Gaubert (Serge Riaboukine) who has just been released from prison after having served his time for these crimes. What results is an explosive encounter behind closed doors between two damaged and fragile protagonists destiny has forced together. 






- Un court métrage: KARMA COMA by Guillaume COURTY

(France | 15min)


Synopsis: François, a young student, is accosted in the street by a stranger saying he needs medicine. François decides to give him a twenty-euro bill ... but he is very far from suspecting the consequences of his gesture.



- A ne pas manquer aussi un documentaire belge sur le médecin Dr. Denis Mukwege, Prix Nobel de la paix 2018 diffusé le lundi 18 mars:


Monday March 18, features a Spotlight Screening of the documentary film by Thierry Michel on 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr. Denis Mukwege and his work. The film is called The Man Who Mends Women and depicts the life of the doctor who risks his life helping women victims of rape in the 20-year war and conflict in DR Congo. The film is followed by a panel discussing the UN SDG’s specifically on women in collaboration with the UN
