It has been proven that art-based activities improve a child's cognitive, personal, and social skills. Enrolling your child and an art based enrichment activity or even doing an activity with your children at home will help with their development. It has also been shown that participation in art programs will improve children's attitudes as well as help boost their self confidence. Children are a proud of their accomplishments within their projects. Having self-satisfaction in completion of a project that was their idea and done by themselves greatly boosts self-esteem. Feeling proud of ones self is an important lesson to learn.

In school there are arts based classes offered. But this may not be enough to encourage the growth and development of your child. Some schools have eliminated arts programs altogether. Focusing only on core subjects may inhibit your child's potential to learn and grow. Having time for art helps to develop your child's imagination as well as other important skills. Art based activities even help nurture skills such as Mathematics, language, evaluation, analytical, and interpretative. It is important to have an outlet for your child to use these skills they have learned. Arts-based activities is a perfect way to do this. Children are more open to learning through art activities.

Giving your child an art project with little or no direction will help them use parts of their brains that open their imagination. This is a form of free expression that is important to nurture your child's development. a blank canvas allows your child to express their thoughts or feelings. Talking about a project or activity with your child can also allow you into their world. This can improve and foster your relationship with your child.

Activities involving art are a good way for your child to express themselves. If your child is shy or withdrawn, involving them in the arts is a good way to encourage them to open up. Art is an important way for your children to convey emotions that are sometimes held in. Involving your child in a drama program may help your child if they are shy and introverted. Drama programs will help your child express themselves verbally.

Drama and dance performances are a good way for your child to learn what it's like to speak or perform in front of an audience. Overcoming stage fright is a huge obstacle. Many people suffer from stage fright and are unwilling or unable to overcome this obstacle. If this is done at an early age chances of successfully overcoming stage fright are higher. A child thinks of performing in front of an audience with peers as an exciting and rewarding accomplishment.

Involving your child in an art program will benefit them for the rest of their lives. It will help encourage as well as develop many skills important for future success. It is important to share with your child your thoughts and feelings about their activities. This will help improve their self-confidence as well as nurture their growth. Even if you encourage your children to do art based activities at home it is certain that they will reap the benefits.
