The NYC Premiere of I LEARN AMERICA is a week away (Sunday, Nov 17th at 2pm).
The show is almost sold out. Get your tickets today HERE: http://www.docnyc.net/film/i-learn-america/#.UmA3YiS1HjO

Prior to the screening, upon invitation from the Centre for Social Innovation we will hold a free community gathering atNoon. This is a great opportunity to connect with our allies.  Please join us  HERE: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/9223599033

During this community gathering, FWD.us <http://FWD.us>  will organize a “pitch session”  where partners will be invited to share their work and calls for action.  Active Voice will help direct the conversation. Our local allies at Make The Road NYC (http://www.maketheroad.org/ ) will use art and puppets created for/by the immigration movement to bring their point across.  Youth from UWD and the various internationals high schools will be with us. A real community gathering opened to anyone who wants to join in the discussion.

Our allies for this event include:  The New York Immigration Coalition, United We Dream, Make The Road NY, the Internationals Network for Public Schools, International High School at Lafayette, NYC Department of Education (Office of ELLs), NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, FWD.us, Kids in Need of Defense,  NYS Interfaith Network for Immigration Reform, Women’s Refugee Commission, First Focus, Facing History and Ourselves, iMentor, Welcoming America, Immigration Equality, The Vilcek Foundation, The Jerome Foundation, Center for Social Innovation, FACE/French Heritage Language Program...  More are joining us daily.

By walking in the shoes of our five ( in some ways, typical) teenagers who encounter everything from learning a new language to social pressure and visa uncertainties, our audience will come to understand how these children – and the millions like them throughout the United States – are an integral part of American life today.

Invite your friends to join us for the screening and gathering.
