The first cake of its kind, designed for two people to share and inspired by the conversations we reserve for very close friends.

The concept initiated in France, while Julie Hinault was writing her master thesis, when she started questioning the relationship between food, conversation, and the special status of dessert. As part of her research, Hinault observed couples, friends, and families sharing meals in restaurants, coffee shops, or at home. She witnessed the inseparable link between conversation and food; and the importance of course-order.

To bring this concept to life, Hinault partnered with innovative pastry chef, Olivier Dessyn, who trained in Paris at l’Ecole Ritz Escoffier and then with Camille Lesecq from the Meurice Hotel and Pierre Hermé bakery. Hinault and Dessyn have combined their talents and skills to create GOSSIP for 2 – a delicious and unique cake made with rich almonds, sweet coconut, bitter chocolate mousse, juicy pineapple, and sour lime. Each component, whether sweet, bitter, or juicy, not only adds flavor to the dessert, but also imparts characteristics of a good piece of gossip. The cake is then iced in two tones to visually express how it’s meant to be shared.
